TITLE: Unsigned Iowa 961, Montgomery County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 961 begins at a junction with US 71 approximately ½ mile south of the City of Villisca and travels northerly to the City of Villisca.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑961‑0(2)‑‑2M‑69, between Montgomery County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred unsigned Iowa 961 from a junction with US 71 approximately 150 feet southwest of the NE Corner Section 33‑T71N‑R36W northerly to the south corporation line of the City of Villisca to county jurisdiction effective October 6, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of unsigned Iowa 961 in Montgomery County from the primary road system.

Remove unsigned Iowa 961 in Montgomery County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 150 feet SW of the NE Corner Section 33‑T71N‑R36W (junction of US 71); thence curving in a northeasterly and northerly direction through Sections 33, 28, and 27‑T71N‑R36W to the south corporation line of the City of Villisca at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 28-T71N‑R36W.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Unsigned Iowa 961 in Montgomery County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary system.

Unsigned Iowa 961 begins approximately ¼ mile south of Villisca at a junction with US 71, and travels generally northeasterly and northerly to the south corporation line of Villisca, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Unsigned Iowa 961 in Montgomery County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 150 feet SW of the NE Corner Section 33‑T71N‑R36W (junction of US 71); thence curving in a northeasterly and northerly direction through Sections 33, 28, and 27‑T71N R36W to the south corporation line of the City of Villisca at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 28‑T71N‑R36W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 961 in Montgomery County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
